Spare Room

After moving in on the 6th of September, 2008, we brought in a surprise for Jayden from Grandma Pat: his very own X-Box! Once we hook up cable in here, this can be his private rec room. <G> .................................. |

 After a few touch ups, we
cleaned out the room, put down an area rug, and now
we're ready to have fun!

| Nearly completed, finishing touches were done Mother's Day Weekend of 2008. Rick & Kass painted the closet, re-hung the main door once it had been painted and Rick installed door hardware as well. Just a final coat of paint on the closet door, remount the doorknobs & plates, and this room is done! | |

 On the weekend of March
30th, 2008, we finished up the molding in the room,
painted the floor the week prior, and installed the
light fixture as well! Once we finish the doors
and paint the closet, this room will be finished!

| After months of no activity
in this room because the bathtub was stored in here, we've
once again begun work on the Spare Room! The molding is
all painted & mounted. Next we paint the floors
and install base molding! |

| In
the last weekend of July, Kass was separating out the
molding from the upstairs closet where we had stored the
molding for all the upstairs rooms. Little did we
know that when the previous owners had remodeled the room
with paneling, they took off the original moldings and
stored them in there as well! So far we have found
the molding for two of the three doors and most of the
window & bookshelf trim! We need to get a light
in there so we can search more and hopefully find the
rest! |

On July 12th, Kass and Alex painted the first room in the old house! You can see the green they painted on the ceiling and blue for the walls, the picture rail will be the offwhite/cream color in the sample below. Now we just need to paint the doors, cabinet, closet and floor, and this will be the first room completed in the house! .....................................................

| These are the proposed
color choices for the spare room. Kassandra has the room
textured and it's ready for primer. She intends to
paint the blue below the picture rail and the green above
and on the ceiling. |

Here's the room almost ready for painting. It's had three coats of mud and sanding, and had some prep work done to the remaining plaster wall. Once a few seams have been done, this room will be ready for painting! With his height advantage Big Rick gets to sand all the ceilings and upper half of the walls! |

2007. With a little luck, this room could be
finished by the end of June! |

| On Memorial Day weekend 2007, we
taped and mudded the first room of the House! Jayden helped a lot with the screws, taping and mudding! He is eager to start on his room! |
 Here are the stairs
Rick's dad Cliff gave us for attic access. Rick
rebuilt the last section of stairs to make them a little
longer and they seem to be working just fine!

| Weekend
of
9-10-2006, the walls have been cleared of the lathe and
plaster. (Kass wants to save one original wall in every
room she can, ask her about it sometime! <G>)
Once we get the deck rebuilt you will be able to walk out
to it from this room, and we'll be putting pull down
stairs in the ceiling to get to the attic. In the
lower left corner of the above right picture, there is
access to the area above the bay window in the
stairwell. We may put a small recessed light in
there now that we've found this access to it! Kass
managed to get the door open to the deck area, but it's
pulled loose at the bottom and now we need to get it
closed again! Yikes! |
